On October 24th, 2023 Dinesafe and Iwaspoisoned.com CEO Patrick Quade spoke at the Oregon Environmental Health Association’s Annual Education Conference. At their conference, professionals in environmental health and food safety, alongside researchers and educators, gathered to disseminate information and stay abreast of new progress in their fields.
The Department of Health in Oregon plays a crucial role in protecting the health and safety of a community with over 4.2 million residents. Part of their responsibilities involves regulating and monitoring more than 10,000 food establishments across the state.
Patrick's presentation, titled "An Introduction to Iwaspoisoned & The Opportunities and Challenges of Crowdsourced Food Safety Data," provided a detailed exploration of the Iwaspoisoned platform—a platform designed to collect consumer reports of suspected food poisoning. The primary emphasis of his discussion was the practical application of the data collected on the platform, especially in the early detection of outbreaks, and its role in bolstering public health initiatives. Furthermore, the session illuminated how to interpret and apply the data and signals, offering a comprehensive insight into a critical component of contemporary food safety management.
We extend our gratitude to the OEHA team for their excellent organization and for inviting us to speak at their conference. This two-day event in Oregon was a wonderful and enlightening experience, offering us the chance to share our work and collaborate with fellow professionals in the field!
